Your Year In Pictures. You’ve Been Busy!

By Sabrina Espinal 7:41 pm

Sabrina Espinal

This is the time of the year that I love to relax, reflect over the year, and write down my accomplishments and life events…just for me to see.

This reflection helps me see how I did with my soul-centered goals and see what unexpected gifts life shared with me throughout the year.

THIS IS EASY TO DO:

One of the easiest ways to do this is to simply grab a piece of paper and go through your life from January through December on any of your social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and/or your Blog Posts. Then write down the things that mean the most to you.

Step by Step:

  1. Go through your photos
  2. Go through your social media network’s photos
  3. Go through your planner calendar
  4. Remember to add training classes, life-changing events, etc.
  5. Go through everything that contains your life

How was your year? I bet it was pretty spectacular!

Next spend time with your favorite heart-centered tools like The Desire Map, your favorite planner, or whatever you use and start your own soul-centered practice.

Now, update your credentials on your website, resume, professional sites; whatever works best for you.

I hope sparks a lot of great ideas of what you want to keep doing and what you want to add to your life and business for the new year.

8 things to do right now for your business

Sometimes we all forget to take care of our business while we are busy taking care or business. Here is a great “go-to” list of quick things you can do to keep your brand looking sharp.

PINTEREST

  • Clean up your boards and add boards that make sense for your business.
  • Rearrange your boards so the most important and/or fun boards are at the top.
  • Update your Pinterest photo, bio and links to your website and social networks.
  • Edit your board and change the cover photo.

FACEBOOK

  • Change your timeline cover this month and make a habit to change it often.
  • Run a $10 “boosted post” and grab the attention of your audience.
  • Cross post your most important content on your personal Facebook page.
  • Let your friends on your personal page know what your business offers.

TWITTER

  • Update your cover photo and your bio.
  • Get the most out of Twitter by creating lists.
  • Stay on Twitter and respond to your audience and give Twitter love back to others.
  • Check the links in your bio and make sure that they are correct.

YOUR WEBSITE

  • Look at your website like a stranger and make notes of small changes that you want.
  • Do you have a sidebar on your site? Delete any information that isn’t important.
  • Make sure your social icons are up to date and that they link properly.
  • Pin and share all of your work from your website. Google loves to index and active website.
  • Update or remove affiliate links that are no longer relevant.

BLOG POSTS

  • Write an article about your most important brand focus for the month.
  • Include links and a “call to action” in your blog posts.
  • Make a plan to blog at least once a month to keep your site active.
  • Take time to clean up and create the right categories for your blog posts.

BUSINESS CARDS

  • Look at your business cards and make a plan to update and refresh your cards.
  • Try a different finish, different size, new style or a bold color on your business cards.

INSTAGRAM

  • Review your Instagram images.
  • Do the images flow together and make sense?
  • Does the over all theme reflect what you want to project about yourself and your brand?
  • Review and update your bio and make sure your link is working.

EMAIL MARKETING

  • Make plans to send a short monthly email campaign to your followers.
  • Send out a short email marketing letter and give your audience something they can use.
  • Every now and then, send an email campaign and don’t sell anything.
  • Send out an email campaign once a month to let your audience know you are still in business.

And a bonus tip!
  • Start branding your images with your website url.

Vision Your Success – Do A Vision Board!

By Sabrina Espinal 5:48 pm

“A vision board is a visual representation of what you are creating and want in your life now and in the future (your goals and desires). It is a visual map that you design to literally create a path to your success.”  – Joyce Schwarz

DIY: Steps to create a traditional vision board

By creating a vision board, you are telling the universe, as well as your conscious and un-conscious mind exactly what it is you desire.

I am not only a big believer and long time user of vision boards, I’m also a certified vision board coach from Joyce Schwarz, author of The Vision Board. This is a brief overview of the “traditional” Vision Board.

I have developed several different modern vision boards or “desire board” techniques that are very easy to use. Some boards will involve online tools like Pinterest, a pin board, a magnetic board, or a simple pen and paper!

A Vision Board is a very simple yet powerful tool. Think of Pinterest as a big vision board! We pin the things we love and we hope one day to see, or have, or be.

READY to start now? Scroll down to Step 1

I’ve been doing vision boards since college. It is an amazing way to lay out the future in pictures.

A vision board is just a physical and visual object that expresses the things you want or the changes that  you want to bring to your life. Your vision board can be on a piece of paper or a poster board. It could be pinned to a private or public board on Pinterest …the possibilities are endless. I’m excited to show you so many examples of how to do easy and unique Vision Boards.

Classic Vision Board:

A classic vision board that is created on heavy drawing paper or a poster board. On the “board” you will paste images and words that you have torn from various magazines. You can also use markers to write positive quotes and affirmations.

The following lists outlines 6 steps to create your vision board.

Make sure you are free of distractions for an hour and really have the focus and time to enjoy creating.  You can do this alone or with family and friends. Gather all of your materials: poster board, glue stick, scissors, magazines (Forbes, Essence, Fortune, Fast Money or any magazines that you have), a computer to print and search for images. These steps are a combination of curated vision board material and my own vision board material rolled into 6 great steps.

Step 1: Magazine Browse – Focus on Your Vision

  • Browse through the magazines and cut the images from them.
  • Rip out anything that delights you or calls to you. Don’t ask why. Just pull images that you like!
  • Let yourself have fun looking through magazines and pulling out pictures or words or headlines that strike your fancy.

Step 2: Sort Your Pictures and Pictures of Words

  • Sort through the images and begin to lay your favorites aside in a pile.
  • Sorting is all about your intuition.
  • If any of the images don’t feel quite right. Trust yourself enough to eliminate them.

Step 3: Position Your Pictures on the Board

  • Lay the pictures on your poster board in a way that makes sense to you.
  • Be creative, add other objects like a business card or other small objects.
  • Move everything around before your glue or double stick tape your images.

Step 4: Glue Stick or Tape

  • Gently glue-stick or double stick tape your images to your board
  • You can write on the board and add positive statements, quotes, and affirmations

Step 5: Display Your Board Where You Can See It

  • Your home office, kitchen, bedroom, take a picture with your cell phone…you have alot of options
  • If you make a mini vision board you can put it in your wallet…just pull it out several times a day and dream big

Step 6: Love Your Board

  • Look at your vision board once a day and feel the vision
  • Red the positive statements and affirmations that you have written on the board
  • Some people use the “remember forward” technique. Example: If you have on your board that you want to become a teacher, you might say, “I remember when I taught my first class”.
  • Some might say, “I’m so grateful to be teaching my first class”. Always say it as if the desired goal is happening now.

Inspiration Board

By Sabrina Espinal 9:53 am

This is a great example of a Vision Board that is simply filled with meaningful images. Enjoy this curated article from Primped by Yasemin Trollope.

Call you what you like – inspiration board, vision board, pictures you love – but the fact is, pinning and posting images that represent your ideal future and inspire you is a great way to get your head into the right space to keep you focused and driven.  -Yasemin Trollope, Primped

Learning comes in three distinct ways: auditory (with your ears), visual (with your eyes) and kinaesthetic (by physically doing something) and an inspiration board is a wonderful, visual way of creating, learning and ‘seeing’ the life you want to live right in front of you.

Here’s how you go about creating one…

Step 1: Prep!

Gather all the practical necessities such as glue, a pin board, scissors, magazines and even postcards. It’s also nice to have tactile things on your board as well, so think glitter (magic dust?), textures, patterns and prints you like, as well as trinkets that take your eye.

Step 2: Plan!

Not sure what board you want to create? There are many different ways to go about it but the three most common are:

1. The Circle of Life Board: This is where you post images and tactile items that represent your past on the outside edge of your board, followed by images of your present next to that, and images that represent your future in the middle.

2. The Single Focus Dream Board: If you know that you’re meant to be with a tall, dark haired man with blue eyes and have three babies, then this is the board for you. The single focus dream board has one clear focus, be it your career, relationship, money or travel plans, for example. Simply find images and trinkets that represent this dream and create a board that gives you daily visual cues towards reaching that goal.

3. The ‘I’m Open’ Board: Another option is simply to piece together random images and tactile items that resonate with you. There may not be a common theme or a particular dream involved, rather an orchestra of great things that make you feel good when you look at them.

Step 3: Piece Together!

Now that you have an idea of what board you want to create, it’s time to gather all your materials. Go through magazines, Pinterest and even old photos to find words, images and visual references of things that mean something to your life. Once you’ve done that, start piecing them together until you’re happy with the layout of your board.

Step 4:  Perfect!

Now it’s time to glue or pin your items down and perfect your board so it’s a trigger of positivity for you. Hang it somewhere where you can see it everyday, for a constant source of positivity and inspiration.

Getting Started On Instagram

By Sabrina Espinal 9:19 am

Getting Started on Instagram

12-31-2014 9-03-12 AMAre you just getting started on Instagram? Here are a few quick set-up steps you can use to make sure your brand takes full advantage of the platform right away. Included are Support links for each step in case you need any further explanation of how something works.

Instagram is a mobile application. You can’t upload pictures via your desktop but you can view accounts and comment via your desktop.

Here are the details on getting started:

  1. Sign up for an Instagram account and choose a username that clearly represents your brand
  2. Add a profile photo, a biography and a link to your website
  3. Link your account to Facebook and many other third-party sharing sites where you have an account by going to your Account Settings > Share Settings). This will allow you to:
    • Share photos to those services, including your brand’s Facebook page if you are an Apple iOS user (we hope to make this feature available for Android in the future).
    • Let your Facebook friends find you easily when using our Find Friends tool (Account Settings > Find People to Follow > Facebook Friends). It’ll also create a news story in Instagram for anyone who follows you on Facebook and has linked their Facebook account to Instagram.
  4. Announce to your Facebook followers that you’re on Instagram. Let them know your Instagram username and show non-iPhone/Android followers where they can see your Instagram photos.
  5. Use and search tags to connect with your audience:
    • Tips for using hashtags
  6. Start sharing photos on Instagram and across your other social networks.
