Make A Date Series

Make A Date With Yourself Series

By Sabrina Espinal 1:21 pm

Making a date with you may sound so simple to do but most people put themselves at the bottom of their “To-Do” list. Scheduling in “self-care” sounds great but not always effective if it gets pre-empted with other activities.

So, what if we look at self-care as a daily necessity? Not a frivolous “thing” that we feel guilty about.

RECHARGING IS ESSENTIAL

Most agree that taking care of your self is a necessity and it’s important for:
Emotional Health
Physical Health
Spiritual Health
Mental Health

GOOD THINGS TO DO

Exercise regularly
Eat a healthy diet
Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night
Seek to have a satisfying work and personal life

SUGGESTIONS FOR BETTER SELF CARE from Jennifer Synder

Boost vim and vigor
Get sleep, nourishing food and regular exercise.

Treat yourself with respect and compassion
Don’t listen to negative people or critical messages.
Do not remain on a path of negative self-thoughts.

Time out for fun
Watch a favorite movie, play with a pet or create a scrapbook of
fun-filled memories. When you laugh heartily, it triggers
endorphins, which creates a sense of ease.

Expand your mind: slow down the aging process
Go on a weekend getaway or spontaneously take a new route
home. A change of scene can spice things up.

Spend quality time with loved ones
Attentive listening enriches relationships and adds joy to life.

Don’t expect to be a superhero
Say no to perfectionism, criticism, procrastination, petty grievances
and gossip. Do chores promptly and appreciate progress. Know when
to say “no”.

Get organized
Simplify home, work, and personal life to create more time for
yourself. Set priorities and attack cluttered schedules and spaces.

Communicate your thoughts
When you express your needs, wants, values and boundaries clearly, it
saves time and energy and makes you feel good about yourself.

Reserve time for simple pleasures
When you witness a beautiful sunset, have a good cry or laugh or hug
a loved one, it lifts your spirits and improves your total well-being.

FINALLY

Self-care is empowering way to take charge of your life. When we are overwhelmed, we lack the energy and focus to make the same clear decisions that we normally would. If we take care of ourselves regularly, we can better handle things that come into our lives.

Make A Date With Your Social Media Series

By Sabrina Espinal 6:27 pm

It’s so easy to get caught up in our day-to-day work that we forget to double check “under the hood” of our social media. Here are a few “must do” items to get you back in the game.

SOCIAL MEDIA BIOS, PROFILE & COVER PHOTO

Bio
Take 30 minutes and look at the bio/about section on all of your networks. Do a quick refresh of your bio. Next, check the links in your bios to make sure they work. You may need to update your link address from http to https.

Profile Picture
Check your profile picture. If you are good with it, leave it. If you want to refresh it, you can quickly upload a new picture or simply add a solid background and keep the same picture. Try the free profile maker at Picsart. It’s quick, easy, and it has a lot of solid background color options.

Background Cover
Look at your cover background picture (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and LinkedIn Business Page). Remember, you can add a call-to-action and link in the description of the cover photo on your Facebook business page! Hint, you can also add a link in the description of the cover photo on your PERSONAL Facebook page!

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING
Everyone gets off-track with their social media. Take time now to put together a quick strategy plan of what you want to post about for the next few weeks and schedule your posts.

Start with posting about your business or store, new topics or items you have for sale, and why all need what you offer! Remember to link some of your posts back to your website or ordering page.

You’re going to feel good posting and talking about your business. If you find it takes too much time to write, post, and build your community, get in touch because that’s what we do for our clients.

Make A Date With Your Website Series

By Sabrina Espinal 5:05 pm

Hello there!

Get ready for a big 2022 update.
This is the 2nd in my series of Make A Date With…

Hire a professional to do your website.
I’m not kidding. WordPress is more complicated than ever and Squarespace is beautiful but not for amateurs. You really need a professional to create your website. I recommend Lovely Abbott, Web, Branding & Co.

But, here are a few things you should check, today!

  • Check the copyright date on your website and make sure it’s up to date. If it’s not, have your website person code your footer with the copyright and it will auto-update each year.
  • Install the a spell-checker on your desktop browser and take the time to go through your website and blog to look for typing, grammar, and sentence structure mistakes. You’ll be able to quickly correct any errors with the help of your spell and grammar checker.
  • Try not to upload any images over 900 pixels so it doesn’t slow down your website speed. If your front page calls for larger images your website front page should already be optimized.
  • SSL Certificate: Don’t frown, Google loves to see sites that are secure with an SSL certificate. If you don’t have an SSL certificate, contact your website person or your hosting company.

Make A Date With Your Business Series

By Sabrina Espinal 4:04 pm

Once a Month, Make a Date With Your Business

We’re older, wiser, and more beautiful—so it’s the perfect time to revisit and refresh my signature “Make A Date Series.” Let’s kick things off with a classic: Make A Date With Your Business.

For single entrepreneurs, it’s easy to focus on client work and forget to take care of your own business. But remember: your brand and its presentation can attract new customers—or push them away.

Here are three topics to consider on your date:

Are You Still Friends With Your Business?

Grab your notebook and reflect on these questions:

  • What does your audience need and want?
  • What do you currently provide?
  • What value do you add to your audience’s life?
  • How does your business contribute to the world?
  • Are you still in love with your brand?

How Do I Look?

Polish your brand’s appearance to keep it looking fresh and inviting:

  • Write a new blog post that offers value to your audience.
  • Make notes on a few areas of your website that could use a refresh.
  • Send a personal note or card to a client who recently achieved a success.
  • Review your website on both desktop and mobile to ensure it looks great.

Soul Fun!

If you’re not enjoying your business, no one else will either. Make time for a little soul fun:

  • What would make your work more enjoyable?
  • Could you host an online giveaway?
  • Is there an opportunity to partner with another business for an online event?
  • How can you show your clients a little extra appreciation?

One More Thing…

Double-check your tech: Make sure your computer is up-to-date with the latest software, and that everything from your operating system to your website’s security is current. It’ll help everything run more smoothly!

Let me know how you’re doing via Facebook or Instagram.

Design Your Own Morning Ritual

By Sabrina Espinal 6:14 pm

Make A Date Series
Each morning, I start my day with a morning ritual that I design to fit my needs. I enjoy waking early and having my own sacred time before the rest of the world wakes up.

How to design your own morning ritual:

First, always be flexible. Any routine can become stale and no longer inviting. Pick a general time to start each day. This will begin to build a habit and give you a natural consistency. Just knowing that this will be a soulful part of your day will bring you anticipation and joy.

If you wake up late, let it go for a day. This is your ritual and you can make or break the rules.

Step One

Select your time:

Mornings
Evenings
Weekends

Step Two

Pick your senses elements:

Beverage
Make your favorite beverage. Perhaps it’s a green tea, a flavored coffee, or a morning juice. It’s your choice!

Candles
Have various scents that speak to different moods. Vanilla, spice, sweet, and pine are just a few of the scents you might enjoy.

Oils or Body Sprays
If you don’t want to light a candle, you could opt for a splash of your favorite scent on your wrist or neck.

Music
Create multiple playlists on iTunes, Spotify, or your favorite music listening device.
Group your playlist songs together with songs that create a mood such as, meditation, nature sounds, background music, smooth jazz or your personal favorites. This will allow you to easily create multiple playlists that have 5-10 songs. Personally, I stay away from songs with lyrics so that my mind does not drift to unconsciously saying the lyrics.

Give yourself the option to play the music aloud or with headphones for a deeper journey into the sound.

Step Three

Flow into one or all of these options:

Sit and meditate with gratitude
Stretch and slowly exercise
Journal
Listen to an inspiring meditation app like Calm
Use art as your tool with watercolors or colored pens

Step Four

Make it fun. Make it peaceful.

This should never be difficult. Find a natural to look forward to this time even if it is just once a week.

Ritual Flow Options:

Journals and Planners
Start with gratitude. As the mood guides your write down thoughts and ideas that come to you in a notebook or journal.

Journal and Book Suggestions

52 Lists For Happiness
The 52 Lists Project
The Happy Planer Journal (They have different journal options – not just planners)!
Find an inexpensive journal that you want to write in.
