8 Things To Do In 2018 For Your Soul

By Sabrina Espinal 8:35 pm

Here are 8 great things to do in 2018

Instagram Photoshoot
Use Instagram as your own beautiful creative outlet.
Schedule time to take about 10-15 pictures for Instagram.
Buy little fun items at TJMaxx, Marshalls or other similar places. Select items that fit your personality and are in your brand color. Take these items and create a few flat lay pictures. Take pictures of things that are important to your brand.

Ritual Magazine
Ritual is a retail store but their online magazine is mindful and beautiful. Inspired by the wisdom and ancient traditions of Asian cultures, Rituals has created a collection of luxurious products for home and body. They seek to enrich your life using unique signature fragrances that are carefully designed and composed by the world’s finest perfumers.

Pamper Yourself
Everyone has a different way to pamper themselves. But think of something where you can relax, tune out and enjoy. My favorite pampering event is having a massage, manicure, and pedicure.  Find your favorite and consider making it a regular event this year.

Make A Date With Your Business Series
Check out my signature series of articles that will help you get focused on quick ‘to-do tasks surrounding your business.

Read The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte
This book will set you on the path of defining success for you.

Make A Ritual Of Slowing Down
Start with 15 minutes and simply slow down. Don’t multitask. Don’t check your mail. Just slow down and work on one task.

Surround Yourself With Good People
Only you can define what this means.  For me, it’s people with character and substance. People that are honest and truthful. People that are doing good things for others and themselves. I believe the quality of your life will multiply when you have good people in your circle.

Say What You Need To Say
This becomes so much easier once you eliminate the drama queens and kings, say no often, and create the life, vibe, business, home, friendship circle, work life that marries with your soul.

7 Ways To Shine In Your Life and Business

By Sabrina Espinal 10:33 pm

This curated post shares seven practices, rituals, routines, and habits of the greats, allowing for deeper fulfillment, a grounded sense of purpose, a zest and enthusiasm for life and so much more.

The truth is, you don’t need to wait to do these things. You can get started today, and watch your world expand.

1. Express Gratitude

Starting your day with gratitude will allow you to focus on what you do have, what is going right, and how blessed you already are. Since what we focus on expands, this practice becomes essential to having an incredible, fulfilled day. As Dean Graziosi, NY Times Bestselling author, entrepreneur and author of the book, Millionaire Success Habits says:

“Lower the bar on gratitude. Make it as simple as waking up for another day, or the softness of your sheets.”

2. Start Slow

In a non-stop world, there is nothing more addicting than checking the latest tweet, social media post or email. Yet, when we do these in the morning, we spike our cortisol. Worst of all, we start our day on someone else’s terms, not our own.

Instead, create a morning ritual that gives you space, calm and perspective. James Altucher, the entrepreneur, and author of Choose Yourself, has a four-step practice he relies on that has changed his life. This practice covers the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual realms.

3. Expand Your Mind

Tom Bilyeu, former CEO of Quest Nutrition and now host of Impact Theory has a sign in his office that says it all:

Ideas in, ideas out.

When we consume information designed to empower us and make us think deeper, bigger and bolder, we start our day with enthusiasm and what’s possible, instead of what’s missing. On my podcast, I teach people to study every single day, extract a core lesson, explain how they’re going to integrate it and then teach it to someone else.

4. Answer the One Question

For entrepreneurs and solo-preneurs, focus is incredibly rare and valuable. Many times it’s easy to get caught up in the urgent, yet not important work and putting out fires. One of the key themes of the most successful is their tenacity with both clarity and focus—and letting nothing get in the way of either. This can be achieved by simply answering the “focusing” question from the brilliant book by Gary Keller, The One Thing:

What’s the one Thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?

5. Delegate, Automate or Delete

If I had you list out all the tasks you do on a given week you’d be shocked to find how much time you spend doing things that truly don’t move the needle of your business. Furthermore, you’re likely doing tasks that don’t inspire you and aren’t in your core competency, taking you away from delivering more value to the marketplace.

Dr. John Demartini talks about the power of delegation:

Focus your efforts at working on that which is most meaningful and important to you. You harness your greatest resource of energy for providing service to others.

6. Do More of What You Love

When people ask me how I get so inspired on a consistent basis and how they can do the same, I simply say:

Wake up 20 minutes earlier tomorrow and do one thing you absolutely love.

It doesn’t matter if that’s writing, playing, singing, sprinting, walking in nature, reading, studying or anything in between, what matters is it nourishes your soul. One of the main benefits of doing this is we start to dig deeper into what makes us feel alive, which leaves clues for what our passion and purpose may be.

7. Encourage Others

In my first book, UnResolution,  I detailed a daily habit system to start the day on fire and fill our cup of fulfillment before we do anything else. One of the practices that most often glossed over is the simple act of lifting others up.

We never know who is having a terrible day, going through a break-up or divorce, or simply not feeling it. The simple act of a smile and a compliment, a text message of encouragement to a new business owner or simply telling someone how much they inspire us can change their entire day, and ours.

Start Today

The biggest difference standing between you and some of the world’s most successful people is not some massive skill or Jedi mind trick. It’s simply a set of routines and habits which allow them to be more fulfilled and achieve more on a daily basis. By incorporating the above, you’ll be ahead of the curve and love every minute of your personal journey.

Vision Boards With Meaning

By Sabrina Espinal 7:29 am

my vision board photo
Those of you who know and follow me, know that I love vision boards. Vision Boards have been a very important part of my life and I enjoy sharing and talking about the possibilities of vision boards and the Law of Attraction.

The vision board in this article with the More magazine was one of the boards I created. I like mixing different materials to give me a board that is meaningful and exciting to my eyes.

Tradition Vision Boards are made on poster board with lots of images cut out from a magazine and glued. They can also include words and pictures of yourself. Whatever is going to make it personal and powerful.

Modern Vision Boards with can be made of different materials so you can use magnets, pushpins or tape. I like to cut a few words from magazines, print sayings on the computer and use #Truthbomb cards. Personally, I always add some type of flower image on my vision boards. I love flowers and I find them to a symbol of happiness, peace and love.

I make my vision boards with just a few thoughts in mind and I like to always leave them open for good things to happen that are beyond my current thoughts.

Whenever you make a vision board always think, “if not this then something better”. Never limit the universe to something narrow and small. Why make a vision board and ask for one new opportunity when you could get three!
Read more articles about Vision Boards on my site.

I found this great article about visions boards by Elizabeth Rider I simply had to curate and share it with you.

If you think vision boards are bogus, then the joke’s on you. They work, and there’s actually a really simple explanation of why they work so well.

CREATING A SACRED SPACE THAT DISPLAYS WHAT YOU WANT ACTUALLY DOES BRING IT TO LIFE. WHAT WE FOCUS ON EXPANDS.

When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.

Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do.

According to the popular book The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”

Whether you believe that or not, we know that visualization works. Olympic athletes have been using it for decades to improve performance, and Psychology Today reported that the brain patterns activated when a weightlifter lifts heavyweights are also similarly activated when the lifter just imagined (visualized) lifting weights.

So, what’s the big secret to creating a vision board that works? It’s simple:

Your vision board should focus on how you want to feel, not just on things that you want.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to include the material stuff, too. However, the more your board focuses on how you want to feel, the more it will come to life.

Here’s an example. I have a beautiful coaster from Drybar on my vision board (pictured above), not because I want to open my own blow dry bar, but because I love the feeling I get when I walk into one of Alli Webb’s Drybar establishments. I want my customers to feel those same happy vibes when they come across my brand, so on the board it went.

Elizabeth-Rider-Vision-Board

I added few trinkets, like a peacock feather and bookmark, that I picked up at retreats where I felt incredible energy and motivation around what I was learning. When I’m in my home office, I want to feel the same way I felt at those retreats.

A few inspirational notecards from my best friends and women I admire are on my board as well; I personally believe that their handwritten notes on the back infuse it with even more good vibes. Front and center is a quote from Danielle LaPorte’s Fire Starter Sessions that reminds me how I want to live.

I even have a few items from past events that I want to keep occurring each year, like a photo of my husband from a surf vacation and an invitation to an annual gala dinner for the top 25 salespeople in my company. I want to continue to enjoy surf vacations with my husband, and want to continue to be invited to this exclusive gala. I’ve been invited back to that gala each of the last three years, and not coincidentally, have had the previous year’s invitation on my vision board for the last two (see, it works!). A few quotes and reminders round out my board and I truly feel giddy every time I look at it.

There is only one major rule to creating a vision board that works, and it’s that there aren’t any rules.

You aren’t going to mess it up, you can create your vision board on your own terms. Here are the answers to the most common questions people ask:

Q: What should I put on my vision board?

A: Anything that inspires and motivates you. The purpose of your vision board is to bring everything on it to life. First, think about what your goals are in the following areas: relationships, career and finances, home, travel, personal growth (including spirituality, social life, education) and health.

You don’t have to cover each area exactly the same, just take a mental inventory of what you want each of those areas to look like and write them down. Always handwrite your goals instead of typing them, there’s something energetic about actually handwriting your goals. From your goals and aspirations, think about what you want on your vision board. Like I said before, what you focus on expands. You’ll be amazed at how things just start popping up all over the place once you set the intention for what you want and how you want to feel.

Q: Should I have one main vision board or a bunch of small ones for different areas of my life?

A: It’s totally up to you. What makes the most sense in your life? I personally like to have one central vision board that I look at every day in my home office, and I have a few small ones that I’ve made at retreats that I keep around too. Each area of our lives affects each other, so starting with one central vision board usually makes sense. Theme boards that center on specific events or areas of your life are great too, for instance, a wedding-day-specific will help you focus on how you want to feel on your big day, or a career-specific board at your desk space can help you work towards that promotion.

Q: How often should I re-do my vision board?

A: Whenever it feels right. I often leave blank space on my vision board so I can accept new things as they appear in my life, and add and rearrange during the year when I feel it. You’ll just know. Then, every December, I give the board a total refresh to get clear about what I want in the new year. Some things stay and some have served their purpose and don’t make the cut.

HOW TO MAKE A VISION BOARD THAT WORKS

What you’ll need:

  • Any kind of board, if you’re new maybe start with a cork board or poster board from the hardware store, they run about a dollar. If you can, I recommend a pinboard or something pretty you like to look at — I got my 24×24” white wood-framed pinboard on Etsy.
  • Scissors, tape, pins, and/or a glue stick to put your board together.
  • If you want, fun markers, stickers, or anything else you can think of to deck out your board. I don’t use that stuff, but if embellishments make you feel great, then go for it.
  • Magazines that you can cut images and quotes from.
  • Most importantly, the stuff you want to look at every day. Photos, quotes, sayings, images of places you want to go, reminders of events, places, or people, postcards from friends and just about anything that will inspire you.
  • Time. Give yourself a stress-free hour or two to put your board together. If you’re a social butterfly, invite your friends over and make a party out of it. I host a vision board party every year on the first night of my partner’s mastermind weekend and I can’t even tell you how much it sets the tone for the event — everyone is more focused and less stressed after we do it.

How to do it:

Set the mood. relaxing music. Light a candle and clear your space.

When it comes to actually putting your stuff on the board, I like to leave space in between each item because clutter clouds my mind. I like space. However, if you love the feeling of closeness and want everything to touch and overlap, then huddle it all together and overlap your objects. As for choosing what makes the final cut, lay everything out before you start gluing and pinning so you can get an idea of where you want everything.

Writing A Simple and Beautiful Manifesto

By Sabrina Espinal 12:21 pm

MANIFESTO. noun.
/ˌmanəˈfestō/

A written statement to publicly declare your intentions, motives, or beliefs.
From the Latin manifestos — to manifest, to clearly reveal, to make real.

How to write a simple and beautiful manifesto.

Traditionally, a manifesto is a written statement where you publicly declare your…

– Intentions (what you intend to do)
– Opinions (what you believe; your stance on a particular topic)
– Vision (the type of world that you dream about and wish to create)

Traditional manifestos are cool. There really aren’t any firm rules. You can write whatever you want, however, you want.

After reading your manifesto, ideally, your reader should feel like, “I understand this person better” or “I get what this project is all about and why it matters” or “Oh, I can see the type of world that this person is trying to create — me too! I want to join the revolution!”

Your primary goal is to make your reader “feel” something. Hope. Excitement. Amusement. Curiosity. Whatever “feeling” you want to convey.

Here’s a very simple manifesto template that you can play with…

Start by filling out the following three statements:

I love…

I believe…

I am committed to…

Or, if you’re using a collective voice:

We love…

We believe…

We are committed to…

Manifesto for Sabrina&Company

It’s all social to me.

Sabrina&Company Marketing. Your voice on our time.

Manifesto for HunnyMilk Restaurant

We love… butter, sugar, salt, eggs, and bacon and we’re not ashamed to say it.

We believe… that food should be made fresh with the best possible ingredients and that life should be full of simple pleasures and small indulgences, every day.

We are committed to… serving brunch items & sweets that make you feel like a kid again.

Join us every weekend for brunch or talk to us about catering. We can whip up a custom dessert or set up an ice cream cone station that will make your guests lose their marbles. We’re excited to serve you. We want your HunnyMilk treat to be the best part of your day!

Notice how at the bottom of the HunnyMilk manifesto, has a specific “invitation” for the reader: “Join us every weekend for brunch…”

If you’re writing a manifesto for your business, wrapping up your manifesto with a specific invitation is often a smart move. That way, you’re not leaving your reader “hanging,” wondering what to do next. You’re spelling it out, loud and clear!

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy

By Sabrina Espinal 9:59 am

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier.

We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them.

Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give up your need to always be right

There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?

2. Give up your need for control

Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.

“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

3. Give up on blame

Give up on your need to blame others for what you have or don’t have, for what you feel or don’t feel. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life.

4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk

Oh my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative, polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don’t believe everything that your mind is telling you – especially if it’s negative and self-defeating. You are better than that.

“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

5. Give up your limiting beliefs

Give up your limiting beliefs about what you can or cannot do, about what is possible or impossible. From now on, you are no longer going to allow your limiting beliefs to keep you stuck in the wrong place. Spread your wings and fly!

“A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind” Elly Roselle

6. Give up complaining

Give up your constant need to complain about those many, many, maaany things – people, situations, events that make you unhappy, sad and depressed. Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

7. Give up the luxury of criticism

Give up your need to criticize things, events or people that are different than you. We are all different, yet we are all the same. We all want to be happy, we all want to love and be loved and we all want to be understood. We all want something, and something is wished by us all.

8. Give up your need to impress others

Stop trying so hard to be something that you’re not just to make others like you. It doesn’t work this way. The moment you stop trying so hard to be something that you’re not, the moment you take off all your masks, the moment you accept and embrace the real you, you will find people will be drawn to you, effortlessly.

9. Give up your resistance to change

Change is good. Change will help you move from A to B. Change will help you make improvements in your life and also the lives of those around you. Follow your bliss, embrace change – don’t resist it.
“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls”
Joseph Campbell

10. Give up labels

Stop labeling those things, people or events that you don’t understand as being weird or different and try opening your mind, little by little. Minds only work when open. “The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” Wayne Dyer

11. Give up on your fears

Fear is just an illusion, it doesn’t exist – you created it. It’s all in your mind. Correct the inside and the outside will fall into place.
“The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.”
 Franklin D. Roosevelt

12. Give up your excuses

Send them packing and tell them they’re fired. You no longer need them. A lot of times we limit ourselves because of the many excuses we use. Instead of growing and working on improving ourselves and our lives, we get stuck, lying to ourselves, using all kind of excuses – excuses that 99.9% of the time are not even real.

13. Give up the past

I know, I know. It’s hard. Especially when the past looks so much better than the present and the future looks so frightening, but you have to take into consideration the fact that the present moment is all you have and all you will ever have. The past you are now longing for – the past that you are now dreaming about – was ignored by you when it was present. Stop deluding yourself. Be present in everything you do and enjoy life. After all life is a journey not a destination. Have a clear vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present in the now.

14. Give up attachment

This is a concept that, for most of us is so hard to grasp and I have to tell you that it was for me too, (it still is) but it’s not something impossible. You get better and better at with time and practice. The moment you detach yourself from all things, (and that doesn’t mean you give up your love for them – because love and attachment have nothing to do with one another,  attachment comes from a place of fear, while love… well, real love is pure, kind, and self less, where there is love there can’t be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot coexist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene. You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things without even trying. A state beyond words.

15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations

Way too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live their lives according to what others think is best for them, they live their lives according to what their parents think is best for them, to what their friends, their enemies and their teachers, their government and the media think is best for them. They ignore their inner voice, that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people’s expectations, that they lose control over their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need….and eventually they forget about themselves.  You have one life – this one right now – you must live it, own it, and especially don’t let other people’s opinions distract you from your path.
