An Influener Is What You Make It

By Sabrina Espinal 2:21 pm

Don’t let the word “influencer” be defined as someone who showcases their makeup and clothes. Don’t miss out on becoming an influencer to those who are looking for someone like you.

The term “influencer” can mean different things to different people but for my purpose, it means someone who can share and give great knowledge and guidance. And as a single entrepreneur, you can do just that!

So how do you become an influencer? It takes and trust. You begin by building a small group of people who are looking for your unique expert wisdom, guidance, and panache. It takes time and error to find your own niche and build your skills, knowledge and grow into your brand.

Inc Magazine has shared 10 steps to becoming an Influencer:

1. Find Your Niche

2. Do Something Unique

3. Pick Your Social Media Channels and Groups

4. Create A Social Media Strategy: Plan out your content. Make a list of the content you want to create for the next month or pick a theme. Decide how often are you going to post. When will you post? Be consistent.

5. Create Great Content: Make sure you create the best content you can. It’s your brand.

6. Be Consistent: My favorite podcasts come out on the same day and time every week. Your content should be the same way. I post new articles on my blog every Tuesday at 5 PM. You need to give your audience a reason to subscribe. If you don’t create new content, on a consistent schedule, why would they need to subscribe? They’re not missing anything.

7. Promote: You spent all this time creating content, but what good is it if nobody sees it? Remember, it’s 20% content creation and 80% promotion.

8. Collab: The quickest and easiest way to grow your audience is by working with a bigger influencer than you. Remember, there’s more in it for you than the bigger influencer, so you’ve got to help them out to make it worth their while. I figured out this trick with my Forbes articles. If I interviewed big influencers, and let them promote what they wanted, they would share the article and it’d get a ton of views.

9. Engage With Your Audience: This will be easy at first because won’t have a big following. Respond to every comment, follow people back, etc.

10. Look At The Data: What content is working? Who is your audience? Look at the analytics. What does your audience look like? Create content that is true to you and that resonates with your audience. Finally, ask your audience what they want to see more of.

What do you think?

Select A Word Of The Year For Your Business And You

By Sabrina Espinal 2:23 pm

In this article, Elizabeth Rider takes us through her process of selecting a Word of the Year.

“Your Word of the Year sets an intention, a theme per se, for how you want your year to flow.

Picking a Word Of The Year is an excellent way to do this. You may just have one word that really sticks out to you for your 2019 theme, if that’s the case, just choose one. Or, you might have a group of words or set of themes that you want to set as your intention—it’s totally up to you.

How to choose your Word of the Year:

Choose one to five words that really speak to how you want your year to feel. Nouns, verbs, anything works—just words that feel good to you. Don’t get caught up in the grammar. Review them all together, then narrow it down to one that you know in your heart you need more of.

Then write your word on a pretty notecard and stick it to your bathroom mirror or anywhere else you’ll see it every day. Some other ideas are on your car’s sun visor, your office wall, or make it your computer desktop or phone wallpaper.

Elizabeth’s word of the year is Confident.

My initial list of words was expansive, open, aligned, joy, grateful and confident. While I, of course, want more of all of these things—when I looked at my year ahead I knew that the area of most fear is the release of my forthcoming book (coming August 2019!). The cover, title, and summary will be released shortly. I’ve always felt confident as a blogger, but a book with a major publisher is a totally different level. The ideation phase and writing process stretched me more than I could have imagined, which in the end was the biggest gift of 2018 because I know the final product will help so many people. With a book like this, there is more exposure, more scrutiny, and of course more people to help and connect with. Instead of fear, I’m choosing confidence.”

Now that you have read Elizabeth’s process, do you think you would like to pick a word of the year? Or perhaps 2-3 words? Think about what fits for your soul and business right now and start.

And by the way, you can pick a word at any time of the year!  If you are just seeing this concept, start today. You don’t have to wait until January 1st.

When I’m asked to provide my stats to a potential sponsor or when I’m contacted about a blogging influencer opportunity or just about my business, I’m confident in providing a sleek and professional Media Kit.

Routine Is Bad. Be A Rebel

By Sabrina Espinal 1:05 pm

My opinions are my own! Routine is bad. Routine can set you up to do things on auto-pilot.

Routine can cause you to do things without soul, love, excitement, thought and a whole lot of other things. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be organized or have some type of routine but try to approach it differently.

See things differently. Do things differently.

Breaking and changing your routine often will give you time to think and see and experience something new that is waiting for you. Sometimes a little change will give you a new idea and a new way to do something that you can implement in your business and life.

That’s why I say, routine is bad.

BE A REBEL and do something different each week!
