I find that when I try to push through a creative blank screen that I just get tired and frustrated. What about you?
That’s when I know it’s time to take a short creative break. What is a short break? It can be a few days or a week. I just know that when I feel refreshed my ideas start coming back.
Let your brain rest
Don’t force your thought and try to put together more sales copy, packages, newsletters, crafts, blog posts, or whatever it is. Just shut down.
Accept that you are stuck
Your creative tank is on empty. Accept it. Move on to other work. You can’t for creativity, and if you do it will be junk. And you don’t want to create junk!
Get oxygen to your head. Slow. Deep. Mindful Breaths of Air.
Take a few minute to practice gratitude
Get Out And Move
Get out and walk. Visit various places that might inspire you with color and sounds and ingenuity.
Read A Magazine or Book.
Find a bookstore and browse and pick up a magazine or book. Get your mind working in a different way
Clean Your Desk And Your Surroundings
Clutter is a drag. Clean, dust, purge, file and shop! I always like to keep a few clean wide open spaces on my desk and walls in my workspace. This leaves room for new opportunities and thoughts to come in.
Change Your Senses
Take a day trip to a new place. Read a new magazine. Do something different to spark your senses.
Never underestimate the power of having fun and laughing. It does wonders for the mind, body, and soul.
I always keep my planner or journal in my bag and write down things that I want to do. As you stimulate your mind you will find fresh thoughts coming back to you.
