Remember the excitement of 2010? Remember the hope and promise of a really new and wonderful year? By now you should have seen the picture of this strong and handsome young man being pulled out of the Haitian earthquake rubble after being buried for a week. Through all of his fear he emerged with a million dollar smile and arms open wide. It was as if he was saying, “All right Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up”. (Sunset Boulevard, 1950 starring Gloria Swanson and William Holden) There are many good stories of triumph that are still emerging from the Haitian tragedy. I am touched by the people who used their cell phones, Twitter and Facebook to help save their lives, allow the world to see their reality and raise money.

Starbucks is always doing something for the global community. Remember the award winning Akeelah and the Bee? This was a sweet movie from 2006 that was strongly promoted by Starbucks and was the first CD sold in stores.
Once again this holiday season Starbucks continues their partnership with RED. This time they are giving $1.00 from every “LOVE” CD sale to fight Aids. So far, the Starbucks-Red partnership and the Starbucks customers have contributed a staggering “7 million days worth of medicine” for people living with HIV in Africa. Starbucks has a wonderful communication and colaboration with their customers using their SM Website, Twitter and Facebook networks. By the way, their Facebook page has 5 million plus fans and Twitter has 550,000 followers.
