When you get clear on how you really want to feel, not only as a person, but as a family, it can make the journey so much sweeter. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be the only one experiencing a sweet life. I want to share the journey with my husband and everyone else.
Enter my brilliant idea:
25 Days of Desire Map and my Starbucks Advent Calendar
Wait…what?
I bought the Starbucks 2014 Advent Calendar because it was really cool. A magnetic chalk board with 25 small tin cans and a red ribbon for hanging. Inside each can is a mini chocolate covered graham cracker and the last tin has a mini $5 Starbucks gift card!
Like a girl with a gift from Santa, I raced home from my local Starbucks and hung my beautiful calendar, and then MY CREATIVE GENE KICKED IN! Why not type up 25 different questions based on The Desire Map, Conversation Starters, Truthbombs and my own musings. Yes!
I placed one question inside each tin (see picture) and announced to my husband that every morning we would open a tin and answer the same question. I’m writing down our answers and then in January we will look at our answers and make goals to live our desired feelings and share those with others.
My Process:
- Grab a tin and read the question while we are running around in the morning.
- Write down our answers while waiting for our morning coffee to brew.
- That’s it. No “woosah” or meditation. Just jump right in, ask the question and have a little 3 minute conversation.
By Day 4:
My husband said, “What’s the question for today?” as he grabbed the number 4 labeled tin.
Men:
I think men really do want to talk about their feelings in a safe and quick paced environment. Earlier in the year when Danielle Laporte released her Conversation Starters app, my husband loved the conversations that it sparked. Our answers to those questions brought us even closer after being married for over 10 years.
I’m excited about our 25 Days of Desire Map during this beautiful holiday season.
